We are currently seeking a full-time Client Development Manager for either our downtown Cleveland or Cincinnati offices. The Client Development Manager is responsible for delivering insight and objective viewpoints to support the business development efforts of the firm. This position plays a vital role in enhancing the firm's client acquisition and retention efforts, improving service offerings, and in identifying opportunities for increased visibility.


The successful Client Development Manager must be a master relationship builder with experience creating and cultivating trust and confidence with key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working collaboratively and independently to discover new ways to add value to the firm.


Job Duties Include:


  • Works with attorneys and practice group leaders to develop and execute strategic marketing and business development plans/programs that deliver an exceptional “client experience”.
  • Works with leaders to identify revenue generating opportunities that align with Firm’s strategic plans and delivers marketing recommendations summarized into crisp, compelling business cases.
  • Initiates and analyzes client, market, competitor, and industry research and provides succinct, meaningful insights to help inform the business development and marketing strategies.
  • Oversees “voice of the client” research and satisfaction surveys to enhance client relationships.
  • Monitors key client relationships and reports opportunities to attorneys in a timely fashion.
  • Directs market research projects for attorneys – including report on Firm’s top clients/prospects – and coordinates any additional outside research, competitive intelligence, and industry reports to track and analyze trends.
  • Works with attorneys on business development plans including idea generation, cross-selling, prospect targeting, and thought leadership, and initiates follow-up on specific action items arising from discussions.
  • Provides strategic oversight to submissions for ranking authorities, such as Chambers USA, Benchmark Litigation, Best Lawyers, and Super Lawyers.
  • Monitors various news/intelligence sources for business development and market visibility opportunities; circulates information to appropriate attorneys and tracks results of same.
  • Assists in the monitoring of referrals developed through the Firm's participation in external legal networks and industry associations.
  • Manages and tracks client and business development budgets.




A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or related field with at least 8-10 years’ experience working within a professional services firm. Position requires a self-starter and strategic thinker with excellent client relationship management skills. The position requires outstanding interpersonal skills with a strong ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, both in writing and verbally, to people at all levels and across offices.
