GENERAL PURPOSE The Director, Revenue Operations is responsible for overall leadership of the firms billing, collections, and financial operations teams. The position requires excellent professional communication, leadership, motivation, and execution skills. This role is charged with driving efficient and effective processes and delivering a consistently high level of operational excellence and client service across the firms revenue functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Lead the delivery of billing and collection services to clients and lawyers. Develop performance standards and analyze procedures and processes for continuous improvement. Be actively involved in the process of identifying, recommending, developing, and implementing changes that improve the services provided by the teams, as well as benefiting the firms bottom line by improving the effectiveness and efficiency of client billing and revenue receipt. Develop metrics and service level agreements (SLAs) based on billing and collections best practices and monitor compliance. Ensure the billing and collections teams are properly staffed to achieve agreed-upon SLAs. Direct and enable enhancements to the firms revenue cycle-related teams and operations; ensure cohesion, consistency, and alignment of the firms resources and drive related organizational, process, technology, and infrastructure change. Work closely with the CFO, practice group, and firm leadership to manage inventory concerns. Evaluate and direct monthly distribution of inventory reporting, uphold firm policies, and manage significant or important client account relationships as needed. Address escalated billing and collections questions and concerns in a timely manner. Ensure effective communication and collaboration internally and externally. Assist with annual revenue projection models, as needed. Strategically organize and manage the departments year-end billing and collections process. Cultivate seamless and highly effective working relationships, interoperability, and lines of communication across the organization. Oversee project design, implementation, and maintenance of e-billing processes, bill templates, task-based billing, and reporting. Develop and execute strategies to mature and scale the firms revenue operations technology portfolio, including Elite 3E, eBillingHub, and several related technology applications. Manage, mentor, and develop business professionals; and foster a highly responsive, team-oriented, client service-focused approach with the utmost commitment to professional excellence. Complete special projects as assigned and maintain management reports as needed. Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the job position, consistent with the firms attendance expectations. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and coach employees. Demonstrated skill in handling employee relations including mediation when necessary. Ability to work with all levels of personnel including lawyers and senior management. Clear history of being proactive. Excellent organization, problem solving, planning, and decision-making skills. Superb oral and written communication skills. Proven success in creating clarity and consistency in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Motivated to help others succeed. Ability to share knowledge, lead, and develop others. Demonstrated ownership of work, and accountability for outcome. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic and complex environment, while meeting deadlines and successfully managing the daily workload. Exceptional judgment, flexibility, and professionalism. Demonstrated ability to serve as a change agent and effectively drive new initiatives in partnership with other firm departments. Fluent in 3E financial system and a variety of Windows-based applications including Excel. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires a bachelors degree in business administration, finance, or accounting and a minimum of 10 years of progressive expertise in a related area required. Must have 10 years of experience in managing and leading teams, or equivalent. A minimum of 7 years of client billing and relevant financial management experience with major law firms or other highly sophisticated professional services firms. A Masters degree in business administration or other advanced degree is strongly preferred. Prefer a minimum of two years of professional services experience or equivalent. This position may be filled in the following area(s), the compensation range in these area(s) is listed below and depends on qualification and experience. Perkins Coie may provide a discretionary bonus annually and information regarding benefits can be found here.
