GENERAL PURPOSE The position of Diversity & Inclusion Manager reports to the Director of Diversity & Inclusion. This position provides support and assistance with the varied functions of the Diversity & Inclusion Team. This is a fast-paced, energetic environment with multiple priorities including: Serving as consultant, thought leader, trusted advisor, and subject matter expert for Business Professionals and Attorneys on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion topics including but not limited to recruitment, retention, and advancement. Serving as trusted advisor and consultant to the local Diversity & Inclusion Committees and all Resource Groups. Conducting research to identify, summarize, and propose implementation of committee and Resource Group best practices. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Developing plans to operationalize or implement strategies related to programs and projects including the development of day-to-day tactical plans. Working under broad direction; fully responsible for own technical work and/or project responsibility. Supporting local office Diversity & Inclusion committees. This support includes coordination and planning of the quarterly national committee chairs meetings, onboarding new committee chairs and committee members, monitoring the engagement level of each local committee, supporting local programming and events, serving as a communications bridge between the committees, maintaining a pipeline of interested potential committee members, collaborating with many departments, and providing guidance and counsel to the chairs and committee. Providing budget support, maintenance, and monitoring. Supporting Resource Groups. This support includes identifying best practices, recommending structure, organizing national quarterly meetings for co-chairs, supporting Resource Group aligned programs, creating opportunities for collaboration between Resource Groups, implementing best practices, and providing guidance to the chairs and Resource Group members. Experience creating and leading Employee Resource Groups is desired. Supporting the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Director of Diversity & Inclusion, Senior Diversity Managers, and collaborating with all team members in implementing the firms strategic goals. Creating, managing, and maintaining relationships with various internal and external clients and organizations. Providing general departmental project management support including retreat support, national programming, and creation of departmental reports. This position also includes general administrative functions as necessary (filing, copying, payment requests, scheduling of meetings and conference calls, etc.). Supporting special projects and other duties, as assigned. Occasional travel may be required. Occasional overtime may be necessary to meet project schedules and ensure the timely completion of deliverables. Being present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the position, consistent with the firms attendance expectations. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Demonstrated superior ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Experience with supporting and advising D&I Committees and Employee Resource Groups. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Exceptional customer service skills. Professional demeanor, maturity, good judgment, and discretion in working with confidential information. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently on tasks and prioritize competing deadlines in a deadline-driven environment. Ability to maintain a good rapport with various personnel at all levels in the organization. Excellent time management, project management, and organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented and a critical thinker. Must have strong proofreading and editing abilities. Proficient in basic computer applications including Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Prior experience in planning, developing, coordinating, and organizing programs and activities in a law firm setting is a plus. Ability to work alone and on a service team. Must be able to be managed virtually. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A minimum of 5 years of administrative support/coordination experience, project management, or equivalent. D&I subject matter knowledge. Previous professional service industry experience preferred. This position is open to any of our US office locations, with preference for Seattle and Chicago. This position may be filled in Colorado or New York. These ranges are specific to Colorado and New York, depending on qualification and experience and may not be applicable to other locations. Colorado compensation range: $97,240 to $150,440 annually, New York compensation range: $112,830 to $174,560 annually. Perkins Coie may provide a discretionary bonus annually and information regarding benefits can be found here.
