Job Description: Under general supervision, assist lawyers with document and information management, factual analysis, briefing and administrative hearing support. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Will assist litigation lawyers and more senior paralegals with all phases of litigation case support including document/information management, file support, factual analysis, discovery, and hearing/trial support. Prepare, finalize, and file briefs, exhibits, and other responses in federal court and administrative proceedings. Maintain positive contact with clients and observes confidentiality of client matters. Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, and other documents and attorney notebooks. Summarize articles, reports, witness statements, and depositions. Conduct factual research and analysis. Keep accurate time records. Prepare case/matter notebooks. Perform factual and legal research. Conduct cite checking. Knowledge of Blue Book. Coordinate and attend client conferences, document productions, depositions, closings, and other transactions. Prepare material for in-house and outside distribution. Draft and revise legal documents and correspondence. Coordinate service of process and/or filings with public entities. Obtain factual information from clients and third parties, including governmental agencies. Keep track of case/matter deadlines. Maintain departmental form files and systems. Perform computer database input and retrieval. Knowledge of how to use PACER and Westlaw. Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the job position, consistent with the Firm's attendance expectations. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Thorough knowledge of all phases of litigation, discovery, and trial procedures. Demonstrated skills in document /information management. Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with Firm lawyers and staff, client personnel, and other professionals. Possess strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail. Sound knowledge of library operations and records storage procedures. Ability to handle multiple tasks, multiple concurrent deadlines, work well under pressure and independently. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Experience handling confidential and proprietary information in accordance with protective orders. SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED Experience in trade remedy investigations under U.S. antidumping and countervailing duty and safeguard laws, as well as litigation and filing experience before the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. International Trade Commission, and the U.S. Court of International Trade. Experience in customs issues, including entry, classification and valuation, and other matters within the jurisdiction of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, as well as export controls administered by the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to exercise discretion and independent judgment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of paralegal experience. Paralegal certificate preferred. Experience with automated litigation support software helpful.
