GENERAL PURPOSE Responsible for maintaining the books and records of all Perkins Coie investment entities. Responsible for facilitating the initiation of new investment opportunities. Responsible for assisting with the completion of the investment entity tax returns. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Reports to the assistant controller for all financial aspects related to internal investment entities including: Creating and maintaining detailed records of all investment portfolio transactions in investment software and manual recordkeeping systems. Recording monthly interest, dividends, distributions, investments, sales, fund capital calls, and partner capital/distributions. Assisting originating attorneys with submitting investment opportunities. Preparing, editing, tracking, coordinating, reviewing, and serving as contact for all investment opportunities. Researching and obtaining recommendations from originating attorneys regarding follow-up investment offers and client requests. Researching investment funds, SEC policies, and any other investor representation issues. Calculating and issuing capital calls and distributions to participants on a regular basis and coordinating with senior payroll accountant for payroll deductions. Maintaining compliance with firm/affiliate/governmental guidelines. G/L (General ledger financial reporting), reconciling accounts to detail schedules, periodic allocation of income taxes and other expenses, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and distribution of investment entity financial information. Inputting and maintaining accurate investors, investments, and investment transactions in investment accounting system. Leveraging investment accounting system for timely reporting of investment activity by investor and for ease in completing annual tax workbook preparations. Managing investment accounting system and user maintenance. Assembling information presented to outside accountants for preparation of the investment entities tax returns; monitor timely filing, payment of estimated taxes, and distribution of K-1s, providing tax information to partners as the need arises. Compiling and maintaining records for participation in composite tax returns. Performing other duties, as assigned. Being present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the position, consistent with the firms attendance expectations. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Demonstrated ability to personally work effectively with partners and other affiliates of the firm, including their CPAs. Working knowledge in fund investment accounting. Self-starter. Effective multitasking and prioritization skills. Strong organization, problem solving, planning, and decision-making skills. Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships throughout operational groups. Fluent in MS Office applications, especially Excel. High-level ability to perform financial analysis. Good knowledge of GAAP and standard databases. Detail oriented, while maintaining focus on larger picture. SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED Fund administration software. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires a bachelors degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or equivalent. Requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience. Prefers a minimum of 3 years of investment fund administration experience. This job can be either remote or hybrid, depending on the employee's state of residence.
