GENERAL PURPOSE Responsible for managing Perkins Coie Law Firm Investment Assets, by partnering with current and former attorneys in addition to Investment Accounting Staff, Tax and Finance team members. The Investment Accounting Manager will facilitate the initiation of new investment opportunities, manage current assets, and aide opportunities for exits. The Manager will work to implement a new fund accounting system for all investment entities and focus on automatization of all functions of the Investment Accounting segment. The Manager will determine and implement policies and procedures to streamline the team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Reports to the Director of Tax Planning & Compliance for all aspects related to the firm including: Managing all Investment capital calls, asset transactions, and distributions including, but not limited to, booking transactions, managing cash flows, tracking detailed partner allocations, and assigning tax specific attributes in coordination with the Tax team. Coordinating with Investment partners on participation in new deals. Providing due diligence on all transactions to assure proper books and records are kept within the portfolio. This will require research into the transactions and working with the originating attorney to determine the required result. Working directly with current and former firm partners to answer all special requests. Oversee and participate in creating and maintaining books and records of all investment entities, including, but not limited to, asset purchases, recording monthly interest, dividends, convertible note interest accrual and conversion into equity, write-offs, and asset sales. Implementing a Fund Accounting System to automate and replace all Excel, internally built, and eFront based Financial Statements and transactional allocations of contributions, distributions, gains/losses, including, but not limited to, all investment legal entities and profits interest plans. Working directly with Tax team members to provide all information required to timely provide partner taxable income estimates, file extensions, calculate ad-hoc withholding payments, and ultimately file yearly tax returns. Reviewing and updating current processes, policies, and procedures of the Investment Accounting Segment, including, but not limited to, firm SEC policies, investor representation issues, understanding cash flows, and maintaining compliance with firm/affiliate/governmental guidelines. Perform other duties, as assigned. Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the position, consistent with the firms attendance expectations. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED A demonstrated ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Working knowledge of investment accounting and fund administration software. Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to personally work effectively with partners and other affiliates of the firm, including their CPAs. Working knowledge of flow-through entity accounting. Strong organization, problem solving, planning, and decision-making skills. Fluent in MS Office applications, especially Excel. High-level ability to perform financial analysis. Good knowledge of GAAP and standard databases. Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Self-starter. Effective multitasking and prioritization skills. Detail oriented, while maintaining focus on larger picture. Must be a team player and an excellent communicator. SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED Functional knowledge of basic business structure and terminology is beneficial. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires a bachelors degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or equivalent. Requires a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, CPA preferred. Required to have a minimum of 4 years of investment fund administration experience.
