The New York office of Perkins Coie LLP is seeking a labor and employment law associate with 4 to 6 years of experience to join its Labor & Employment practice group. Candidates must have strong academic credentials and interpersonal skills, excellent legal writing skills, and substantive, relevant experience, including the following: - Counseling clients, litigating, and conducting trainings and internal investigations in connection with employment law issues, including discrimination and harassment, wage and hour, restrictive covenants, and leave and accommodation matters; - Experience in drafting employment-related agreements and policies; - Traditional labor experience, including participation in collective bargaining, grievance arbitration, matters before the NLRB, and day-to-day counseling on labor-management issues, is required for this position; - Experience in handling matters before government agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state and federal Departments of Labor; - Defending clients in single-plaintiff and class action employment-related litigation; - Advising clients on employment-related aspects of M&A transactions. Candidates must have exceptional writing skills, strong client relations and communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to substantively advise clients and contribute to and/or manage litigation matters on a day-to-day basis. Candidates must also have significant experience independently handling motions and discovery, including experience taking depositions. Some trial experience is preferred. In accordance with the New York City Human Rights Law, the base salary range in New York City for this position is $295,000 -$370,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
