The Legal Analyst (Paralegal) assists attorneys by performing legal research, drafting and analyzing legal documents, and performing litigation support duties at both the trial and appellate level in state and federal court; analyze, draft, and prepare documents both to propound discovery and gather documents responsive to discovery requests. Review documents including confidential documents for responsiveness, attorney client and other privileges; track non-Metropolitan Water District litigation including Superior Court cases; assist with e-filing preparation of documents compliant with court rules, link documents in litigation briefs; and coordinate litigation assistance including Court Reporters.

The Legal Analyst (Paralegal) will also analyze and interpret applicable laws, codes, and statutes; review agreements; prepare analytical documents and reports; provide technical support for litigation, including administrative records and database management, e-discovery, electronic document production and organization; analyze, prepare or coordinate responses to, and track Public Records Act requests and subpoenas. Legal Analysts are required to exercise discretion in providing assistance in confidential litigation and other matters.

Work Schedule: 9/80 (Alternating Fridays off)

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a consortium of 26 cities and water districts that provides drinking water to nearly 19 million people in Southern California. Metropolitan’s mission is to provide its service area with adequate and reliable supplies of high-quality water to meet current and future needs in an environmentally and economically responsible way. Metropolitan’s facilities include the 242-mile Colorado River Aqueduct, five water treatment plants with a combined capacity of 2.3 billion gallons per day, nine surface water reservoirs, 800 miles of pipeline, and 16 hydroelectric power plants.



Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, paralegal certificate from a paralegal training program approved by the American Bar Association or a U.S. Department of Education nationally recognized accrediting agency, and at least four years of paralegal experience;


a Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an accredited law school and at least two years of relevant legal experience;


a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, a signed declaration from an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years or who has practiced in the federal courts of this state for at least the preceding three years stating the person is qualified to perform paralegal tasks, and at least four years of paralegal experience.
