GENERAL PURPOSE The Operations Manager is responsible for the effective and consistent coordination and implementation of Professional Standards business processes, functions, and procedures, and monitors Professional Standards projects and workflow. The Operations Manager will facilitate the daily operations of the Department, ensuring that the workflow and technical operations of the Department are performing efficiently and effectively. This is a newly created position, and the area of responsibility for this role is very wide and thus requires thorough knowledge of various Department processes. The ideal candidate must be competent and able to plan and manage various types of operational activities. He/she/they must be an excellent leader who can discover the most efficient ways to process Department workload. This position operates on a hybrid (mixed in-office and remote) work schedule. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Manage Department processes to achieve maximum efficiency. Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the Departments efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identify opportunities for improvement. Establish reporting functionality for tracking Department productivity. Liaise with superiors to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals Identify operational model process improvements. Review, analyze, and evaluate Department processes and procedures, including process mapping, project planning, and implementation. Evaluate regularly the efficiency of Department processes and procedures according to Department and Firm objectives. Thoroughly understand Department technology databases and processes. Propose technology-based improvements to current processes. Execute new Department directives, policies, and procedures to Department staff, including explanation of changes and training coordination. In conjunction with Department management, improve client service through policy and procedural changes. Administer or lead technology-based projects, including database conversions. Perform project roadmap planning and prioritization. Propose and execute cross-departmental initiatives. Administer or lead coordination and integration of efforts across firm departments. Engage with stakeholders on requirements gathering. Provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with persons within and outside the organization. Perform other related duties as assigned. Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the position, consistent with the Firms attendance expectations. TRAVEL This position may require travel. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Proven experience as Operations Manager or equivalent. Outstanding communication, people skills, and leadership abilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics. SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED Experience with a law firms New Business Intake, Conflicts and/or Docketing functions preferred. Familiarity with law firm systems or databases preferred, including IntApp Open, IntApp Intake, IntApp Terms, Wallbuilder, CompuLaw, FoundationIP, and TM Cloud. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree and minimum 5 years experience as Operations Manager or equivalent. This position may be filled in Colorado or New York. These ranges are specific to Colorado and New York, depending on qualification and experience and may not be applicable to other locations. Colorado compensation range: $97,240 to $150,440 annually, New York compensation range: $112,830 to $174,560 annually. Perkins Coie may provide a discretionary bonus annually and information regarding benefits can be found here.
