GENERAL PURPOSE Process incoming patent mail for all offices that handle patent prosecution and enter necessary dates/deadlines into the docketing system ensuring accurate and timely entry of relevant information. Responsible for lateral partner client intake projects. Conduct docket system audits to disclose issues and provide related user training. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Docket patent dates and deadlines, keeping paralegals, attorneys and clients apprised of upcoming deadlines. Audit all incoming and outgoing patent matters and files on a continual basis ensuring file integrity and docketing accuracy; includes checking for correct due date docketing, removal of completed items verified through the Patent Application Information Retrieval (PAIR) and entering missing or updated information as identified through Patent Application Information Retrieval (PAIR). Work with Patent Docketing Supervisor to troubleshoot issues and provide related training to prevent future occurrences. Coordinate new lateral partner portfolio intake process ensuring accurate entry of partners clients into the Perkins docketing system. Integrate with other members of the National Docketing Team (NDT) located throughout the United States. Provide docket database training and facilitate docketing interactions of other team members of the patent department (when called upon). Monitor scanning of incoming patent matters. Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the job position, consistent with the Firms attendance expectations. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment, with superb attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of firm personnel. Solid understanding of all phases of both the US and foreign patent lifecycles. Ability to provide clear and concise training on patent processes and procedures. Solid time management and prioritization skills. SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED Experience with Foundation IP docketing system. Knowledge of USPTO website and other countrys IP websites. Experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree is required. Three years of patent docketing or equivalent experience preferred but not required. Entry level applicants will also be considered for this position. Experience with U.S. and foreign patent prosecution rules required. At least 3 years experience with one or more computerized docket systems required. This position may be filled in Denver and in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay Act, the compensation range in Denver for this position is $50,390 to $72,760, depending on qualifications and experience.
