GENERAL PURPOSE Perkins Coie is an international law firm and the preeminent firm in the Pacific Northwest. We are seeking a Transaction Analyst Intern to join the Business Group in the Seattle office. This entry-level position will provide support to transactional attorneys, paralegals, and legal practice assistants. The ideal candidate is someone interested in going to law school or pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree. Interview and relocation costs will not be reimbursed. Qualified candidates will be required to take technical tests to determine if the firms proficiency standards are met. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume. SCHEDULE Monday-Friday: 8:30 AM 5:00 PM with 60-minute lunch and 15-minute morning/afternoon breaks. Flexibility with hours worked, including frequent overtime occasionally on short notice, is required for this position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Responsible for miscellaneous tasks and special projects required using a variety of software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Adobe). Documents could include spreadsheets, charts, graphics, presentations, forms, PDF conversions/signature packets, and closing sets. Reviewing legal documents to ensure accuracy and consistency while proofreading documents according to the Business Practice Groups proofreading guidelines. Conduct internet research to verify information in documents, including using public and/or proprietary firm or client internet sites; maintain online databases of corporate documents for use in business transactions; compile executed agreements into finalized, bound versions post-closing of a transaction. Prepare outgoing mail for prompt delivery, arrange for messenger services as needed to meet deadlines and perform copying/scanning tasks and prepare notebooks as required. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Proficiency with standard database, word processing, and presentation applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote), with the ability to design and perform complicated analyses, develop reports, produce documents; and create tables, graphs, and charts. This position also requires attention to detail with excellent analytical, organizational, proofreading, and quality control skills. Strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to express oneself effectively, and excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling are required. Ability to work effectively in teams and independently, with limited direction on complex tasks, effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple, simultaneous deadlines in a fast-paced environment, learn new skills quickly, and organize and track legal documents. Strong work ethic and problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with personnel and handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly. SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED Ideal candidates are preferred to have a strong understanding of (and interest in) the legal or business industry, including an understanding of corporate and transactional terminology and processes and financial information. Prior experience in a law firm, accounting firm, financial institution, or other professional services firm environment is strongly preferred but not required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires BS/BA degree.
