GENERAL PURPOSE The Senior Marketing & Event Manager is responsible for driving the strategy and executing the firms portfolio of events. This role will support the firms broader event program needs and will have the opportunity to work with firm leadership and clients. This candidate will possess a deep understanding of all facets of event planning (venue sourcing, catering, technology, budget management); a familiarity with working in a professional services industry; relationships with vendors; excellent communication skills; and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. This position will also directly supervise event team members and will work to provide support to those colleagues across the firm toward the goal of well planned and executed client events. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following must be performed unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Actively collaborate with partners, marketing managers, and other key team members to develop thoughtful and compelling events. Work to refine and continuously improve our event processes including the go/no-go decision, developing a competitive strategy, targeting and post event follow-up. General oversight of centralized event management in Salesforce and will oversee the compilation and analysis of metrics regarding event engagement. Work in close coordination with the Business Development team and Marketing Advisors for each event to ensure all opportunities are fully leveraged. Developing and reporting ROI metrics for various event types in coordination with the Business Development and Marketing teams. Work closely with vendors and third-party conference representatives to ensure optimal service and value. Managing all vendor payments in a timely manner. Contract negotiation. Knowledge of industry practices, digital trends, innovation, and technology used to execute high level events. Provide or source onsite support as required, including evening and weekend work. Display good judgment with regard to professional and appropriate standards of dress and behavior when in public and acting as a representative of the Firm. Being present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the job position, consistent with the Firm's attendance expectations. Frequent travel is required as needed. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Planning and managing all aspects of a meeting or event, in coordination with lawyers, members of the Marketing team, firm leaders, and other staff. Adapting quickly and with sound judgment to a variety of situations and demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure. Meticulous attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities. Ability to work in a fast-growth, entrepreneurial environment. Demonstrated fiscal responsibility. Strong negotiation skills. Competency in working with event tools such as Cvent and Salesforce. Competency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. Knowledge of hospitality and travel industry terminology, rules and programs. Creative thinking. Knowledge of the rules of business etiquette. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires a minimum of 10+ years of meeting and event planning experience with increasing level of responsibility including project management. A Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation preferred. Hospitality experience a plus but not a must. This position may be filled in Colorado or New York. These ranges are specific to Colorado and New York, depending on qualification and experience and may not be applicable to other locations. Colorado compensation range: $111,190 to $173,630 annually, New York compensation range: $129,020 to $201,470 annually. Perkins Coie may provide a discretionary bonus annually and information regarding benefits can be found here.
