GENERAL PURPOSE The Senior Financial Systems Analyst will be able to lead small to medium projects with a high level of ownership. In addition, they will facilitate effective billing & financial processing with the firms Elite 3E (and related) financial applications, provide support for finance and other users, maintain system setups & security, assist with report development and data validation, and perform financial process and data analysis projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Financial Systems Lead small to medium projects with high level of ownership. Leadership of these projects includes writing business requirements, creating a project plan, coordinating internal resources and vendors, and tracking progress toward project completion. Provide technical and analytical support in maintaining the firms financial systems by having a thorough, in-depth understanding of the firms financial applications and data flows throughout the systemuser security, set-up of new codes & masking, troubleshooting issues, etc. The financial applications include: Elite 3E Proforma Tracker EDG Templates Chrome River Intapp Time Image Expert Business Process Improvement - Provide technical and analytical support to Finance departments to facilitate business process improvement through effective use of technology and internal control procedures. Identify areas for improvement, analyze processes and requirements, and recommend solutions for increased efficiency and minimalizing waste. Use Legal Lean Sigma methodology when appropriate. Vendor Support - Work with vendor support to research functionality options, best practices, and resolve support issues. As a project manager on complex projects, this will include invoice review, ensuring expenses stay within the budgeted statement of work, and working with the vendor to resolve discrepancies as necessary. SQL - Provide effective use of SQL for financial and data analysis, as well as ensuring data integrity. Analysis - Data & Systems Interfaces - Performs structured data analysis of proposed systems and mapping of application data to existing applications for required interfaces. Ensures that new and upgraded systems interfaces are adequately analyzed to successfully integrate with existing application systems and supporting technologies. Research - Coordinates and performs detailed research in two key areas: 1) Review and analysis of solutions proposed by Business / Roadmap owners. (May be the introduction of new technology, business process, or a change in an existing technology or business process.) 2) Assessment for Systems Management of new products or vendor-supplied upgrades to licensed products. Prepares high-level estimates of product costs, resources, technical issues, and business risks. Performs cost/benefit analysis. Provides comparative analysis of like products and/or solutions based on known business requirements and prepares a recommendation for selection. Briefs management and other teams on results of research efforts. Training and Mentoring - Mentor peers and other team members in project management, Legal Lean Sigma, and firm policies and procedures. Ensure effective FSA development through coaching, guidance, mentoring, and training. Draft procedures and documentation for new functions or new users. Provide general overviews and specific functions training to Finance departments, business professionals, and other operational departments. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Analytical with creative problem-solving skills. Ability to quickly understand and confirm user needs & troubleshoot problems effectively. Demonstrated understanding of accounting & financial information. Develop a thorough understanding of the firms financial & reporting systems, business processes, and information needs, as well as the data structures. Aptitude to learn additional software tools to fulfill project requirements. Patience and desire to help users gain a better understanding of their tools, functions & information. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions, and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment. Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining a client-service mindset. Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information. Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required, and use good judgment in varied situations. Ability to work effectively with co-workers in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Flexibility regarding work routine and ability to work on a wide range of projects with frequent interruptions. Ability to respond and interact effectively with personnel at all levels of the firm. Demonstrated ability to interpret complex systems and technical documentation and provide understandable summaries to non-technical staff. Strong analytical skills and a background in performing complex business and product requirements analysis and producing comparisons between established business requirements and product features and functions. Ability to plan and facilitate requirements analysis sessions that require the active involvement of cross-functional teams. Teams will consist of technical and non-technical personnel. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment. Outstanding written communication skills and the ability to work with standardized templates and methods. Experience working with project management and business analysis methodologies and tools, documentation tools, and reporting tools. SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED Preferred experience with business analysis or systems analysis, and quality-improvement techniques and methodology including process mapping and work-flow analysis tools. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Four-year degree in Accounting/Finance, Business Information Systems or equivalent required. Five years financial accounting/analysis or financial systems experience, preferably in a professional services firm. At least three years project management experience. Experience with 3E or other integrated financial applications (Chrome River, Proforma Tracker, EDG Templates, Intapp Time, etc.) strongly preferred. Formal training and experience in systems analysis, and/or business analysis is highly desirable. Intermediate to expert level of experience with SQL and relational databases.
