GENERAL PURPOSE Responsible for the marketing, client service, and business development efforts of the industry groups associated with the Financial Services & Investments and Fintech. Increase visibility, awareness, and business opportunity coordination between all lawyers in assigned industry groups. Manage and mentor marketing staff and collaborate with and provide support to marketing managers in other industry groups and practices. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation. Build and sustain trusted marketing adviser relationships with Industry Chairs and key stakeholders. Manage overall operations of the industry group. Develop an in-depth understanding of assigned industry groups. Monitor industry news to flag client/target developments or notable industry developments. Actively engage with industry clients and prospects, identifying opportunities for growth. Attend business development meetings with partners and potential clients. Build relationships with external organizations relevant to the industry. Work with Industry Chairs to develop marketing and business development plans. Collaborate with the broader marketing team to execute identified initiatives. Monitor and report progress on the plans against defined metrics. Track industry clients/prospects in Salesforce. Conduct complex research and analysis to drive strategic change for assigned industries and new concepts or business opportunities, including multidisciplinary opportunities. Plan, organize, manage and host industry events, including targeted roundtables and large receptions. Oversee all aspects of events, including concept, budget, and agenda development, creating targeting lists, drafting invitation language, sending and tracking invitations and RSVPs, as well as measuring ROI and client feedback. Work in collaboration with members of the Events team to execute events effectively. Manage external and internal communications, including client updates, blogs, industry-specific campaigns, and newsletters. Coordinate responses to industry rankings and submissions. Work with the PR team for earned media opportunities. Provide dedicated proposal support and manage industry-focused marketing materials. Work with the Proposal Team on larger proposals and RFPs. Provide client service support to client leads of key clients within assigned industries; focus on expanding existing client relationships to increase revenue. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure specific client service goals are defined, tracked, and reported for each strategic account. Manage budgets related to marketing expenses. Develop analytics to review and support marketing/BD expenditure and investment. Manage and mentor marketing staff, as assigned, and oversee personnel issues, workload, and hiring of new staff. Contribute to those individuals professional growth by encouraging participation in targeted professional development opportunities. Serve as a role model, setting professional standards for both the department and junior staff members. Lead department-wide initiatives to improve the overall marketing function. Perform other duties as assigned. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Must be detail-oriented with excellent customer service skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex operations or projects at one time. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong abilities in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to manage large- and small-scale events. Ability to work with all levels of personnel and diplomatically interact with difficult personalities. Problem solver. Successful team player. Strong people skills. General understanding of the law profession business model. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree or equivalent required. A minimum of ten years of applicable experience. Advanced degree (MBA, JD, or other relevant graduate degree) is highly desirable. Experience in legal or professional services and/or experience in the financial or technology industry/market sector preferred. This position may be filled in New York City. In accordance with the New York City Human Rights Law, the base salary range in New York City for this position is $129,020 to $201,470 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. This range is specific to New York City and may not be applicable to other locations. Perkins Coie may provide a discretionary bonus annually and information regarding benefits can be found here.
