GENERAL PURPOSE Perkins Coie is looking for a strategic, enthusiastic, people-focused leader to join our Human Resources team as a Talent Advisor. Reporting to the Director of Talent, and in collaboration with the HR Centers of Expertise and other Talent Advisors, this role will partner with administrative department leadership to achieve strategic talent goals. As a Talent Advisor, you will be a strategic thought partner to leaders within Business Services to support the talent within their teams. You will be responsible for advising on strategies for recruiting, retention, development, compensation, workforce planning, and evaluations for your assigned departments. What you will do: Advise and support department leaders, ensuring staffing models are aligned with business objectives, including providing guidance on positions, descriptions, level of experience, etc. Partner with departmental leadership in workforce planning efforts, recommending the type of talent needed to achieve departmental goals. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to department leaders on coaching and employee evaluations, engaging with the Learning and Development COEs when appropriate with the goal of enhancing business professionals performance. Support department leaders and provide advice on all HR and employee relations and performance matters ensuring best practice processes are delivered in accordance with employment laws and supporting performance documentation, and/or make coaching referrals and bring in our Employee Relations team as needed. Work as an internal partner for Business Services leadership to identify needs, opportunities for growth, and development for the assigned group or team members. Consult, coach, and advise individuals on professional and related workplace issues, including coaching managers to proactively support their team members. Serve as a change agent to ensure smooth adoption of HR initiatives and facilitate communication. Conduct exit interviews and collaborate with other Talent Advisors to analyze attrition trends and make recommendations based on results. Join regular departmental meetings to anticipate needs and proactively create talent strategies. Partner with Recruiting and DE&I to ensure that the strategic DE&I talent initiatives are achieved. Communicate frequently with leadership to understand the unique needs of the department. Must stay up to date with the latest talent and human resources trends and practices, including other markets. Contribute to and sometimes lead HR department firmwide talent initiatives. What we are looking for: Strong understanding of law firm operations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills while displaying a positive attitude. Well-developed professional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. Able to have courageous conversations in a coaching manner. Excellent organizational and follow-through skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands. Ability to exercise discretion, good judgment, and the ability to work in a team environment. Committed to the highest level of client service and broad knowledge of the human resources function, demonstrating an ability to serve as a trusted advisor. Technologically savvy, including expertise in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel. Committed to innovation and operational excellence. Ability to maintain professional composure in high-pressure situations in a highly matrixed, complex environment. Works well independently and as a member of a team. Responsive, proactive, and demonstrates a high level of personal accountability. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in Management, Human Resources, or equivalent required. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, and/or SHRM-SCP certifications highly desired. Minimum of eight years of relevant experience, including five years in a Human Resources leadership, senior-level HR Generalist, or Human Resources Business Partner capacity in a law firm.
